This installer application will place Studio TakeLogger and it's necessary components on your hard disk. Please read the "License Agreement" file BEFORE using this software. By using the software, you signify that you agree to the terms in that file.
BEFORE INSTALLING:
Before you install this software, disable any virus protection software. Such software tends to conflict the installer's operations. It is recommended that you restart your computer with all extensions disabled. To do that, restart your computer, then imediately hold down the shift key, and keep it down until you see the message "Extensions Disabled".
WHAT IS INSTALLED:
The default installation package is the "Easy Install" package. This is the recommended installation package. The installer will check your drive for the presence of any necessary files and install only what is needed. This package includes the following files:
• The Studio TakeLogger application.
• The License Agreement file.
• Shareware registration information.
• Help and read-me files.
• Necessary fonts.
• Apple's MIDI Management Tools 2.0.2.
Note that Studio TakeLogger REQUIRES Apple's MIDI Management Tools 2.0.2 in order to read incoming timecode. The installer will over-write any existing version which is prior to 2.0.2.
WHAT IF I'M USING OMS?
Studio TakeLogger requires Apple's MIDI Manager to read MIDI timecode. It is possible (and easy) to use MIDI Manager in conjunction with OMS.
MIDI Manager will function normally when installed in tandem with OMS, but there is one OMS setting to be aware of which may interfere with the normal operation of MIDI Manager.
Launch the OMS Setup application, and choose "OMS MIDI Setup..." from the "Edit" menu. You will be presented with a dialog containing an option labeled "Run MIDI in background". When this feature is ON, OMS will retain control of the serial ports until all "OMS Aware" applications have quit. That means the serial ports will NOT be available for MIDI Manager (and therefore Studio TakeLogger) to use, until all OMS Aware applications have quit.
This feature is primarily designed to allow sequencer programs, such as Vision, to chase timecode while running in the background.
If you have this feature enabled, you must make sure you have quit all OMS Aware applications before launching Studio TakeLogger, so that MIDI Manager will be able to take control of the serial port you have selected.
Conversely, once MIDI Manager has taken control of a serial port, OMS will not be able to use that serial port until you have quit all open MIDI Manager clients.
CUSTOM INSTALLATION OPTIONS:
To customize the installation procedure, choose "custom" from the popup menu at the top left of the installer dialog. From here, you can select to only install Studio TakeLogger or the MIDI Management Tools.
